The SCALE System-on-Chip (SoC) Technical Vertical
The SCALE SoC Technical Vertical presents an innovative approach to power conversion, leveraging techniques borrowed from biology. The Spare Free technique, developed by the speaker's research group, eliminates spurious noise in switching converters, achieving long-term spectral purity quickly and efficiently. This method has significant implications for RF transmitters, class D amplifiers, and audio applications, among others.
The presentation highlights various projects within the research group, including power conversion in wide band gap technology using silicon carbide. The goal of this project was to develop fully integrated analog mixed signal and power converters in silicon carbide, demonstrating a charge pump process similar to how neurons power themselves. The Spare Free technique has been successfully applied to both RFPA and ADC applications, showcasing its versatility and potential for integration issues resolution.
