Compound Semiconductors

Enabling domestic manufacture of high speed electronics, optoelectronics, and photonics

Compound semiconductors are made from two or more elements from different groups of the periodic table.  Examples include gallium arsenide (GaAs) and indium phosphide (InP).  The superior electronic properties of high electron mobility and direct bandgap make compound semiconductors crucial to defense applications including radar systems, electronic warfare, missile guidance, and satellite and space applications.
